New Adopt A Street Program

Want to give a little time and energy to your community?

Individuals or groups can Adopt one of our designated streets and pick up litter at least 4 times a year with a 2 year committment to help make our community more safe and beautiful.

The City will provide the volunteers with safety gear, garbage bags and signs.  After the clean up the City will pick up the full bags of litter and anything too heavy, awkward or hazardous that the group may have found.  The group should bag recyclables seperately and mark them RECYCLE.

Group members must be at least 15 years of age with adult supervision at a ratio of at least one adult per 8 minors. Adults must be at least 18 years of age. For safety we ask no more than 15 people participate at each clean up site at any time.

A group leader or contact person should call the City to reserve equipment at least 2 weeks in advance at 360- 279-4752.  There are several forms to be filled out before the group performs it's first clean up.  All participants should supply an emergency contact name, number and the name and number of their physician.

Safety is our highest priortiy.  The group leader will ensure that the group watches the safety video which is informative, featuring Grant Goodeve.   We recommend that at least one member of your group have a current First Aid and CPR certification.  Please review the safety tips with the group before starting your clean-up.

If the street is closed for construction or maintenance the Adopt A Street agreement will be temporarily suspended.

We value your contribution to keeping Oak Harbor beautiful.  Please call the Public Works office for more information 360-279-4752.
