Waterfront Trail Repair Project

Project Description:

The Oak Harbor Waterfront Trail is a pedestrian and recreational facility that spans the entire City waterfront. Most of the trail is paved with asphalt or concrete pavement. The Waterfront Trail Repair Project is in Veteran’s Park on the south side of E. Pioneer Way and immediately east of the intersection with Regatta Drive. The trail at the project site is eight feet wide cement concrete. The existing trail at the project site was undermined by a landslide in February 2013 and has been closed since. The trail on either side of the slide is in good condition. The work includes relocation and reconstruction of the cement concrete trail, safety railing at a safe distance from the slide and bluff, landscaping, soil stabilization, and installation of amenities to create a scenic overlook area.

The City of Oak Harbor was awarded $150,000 from the federal Transportation Alternative Program for designing and constructing this project.
