January 12- – Cutting Carbons on a Community Scale with Betty Carterett, Eric Shen of Skagit Beat the Heat and Jane Meyer of WSU Climate Stewards.

 

February 9- Energizing an Older Home, Ted Clifton, Builder of the Year. Plus Energy Conservation and Weatherization Tips with John Hastings of PSE Home Print.

 

March 9 – Good to the Last Drop, Maribeth Crandell, Rhonda Haines and the Crandells.  How an older couple made front page news as water saving champions.

 

April 13 - Rain Barrels with Stacy Smith of Whidbey Island Conservation District and Scott Chase, WSU Shore Stewards.  They will demonstrate how to set up a rain barrel and explain recent changes in laws and local building codes.

 

May 11- Renewable Energy, Kelly Keilwitz, of Whidbey Sun and Wind.  Learn about the latest technology and tax credits.

 

June 8- Orca Network, 5 Local Orca Babies were born in 2009. What are their chances?  Howard Garnett and Susan Berta

 

July 13 – Growing Food for the Hungry with Cary Peterson of the South Whidbey Food Bank garden, Lori and Lee Spear of Hummingbird Farms in Oak Harbor. 

 

Aug 10 - Responsible Living on Puget Sound with Stacy Smith, Whidbey Island Conservation District.  Yard care that improves water quality in Puget Sound.

Gardening with Natives with Maribeth Crandell, Environmental Educator for the City of Oak Harbor.  Drought tolerant, low maintenance natives provide wildlife habitat.

 

Sept 14 – Like2Bike Whidbey – Whitney Webber, Island County Health and Arnie Peterschmidt, City of Oak Harbor Engineer.  Linda Irvine on Sustainable Transportation.

 

Oct 12 - Returning Salmon, with Whidbey Watershed Stewards, NAS-Whidbey’s Wally Hasselman on Crescent Harbor Restoration and Swan Lake Preservation Group.

 

Nov 9- The 3 Rs, Recycling at School or Work – Janet Hall, WSU Waste Wise, and Joyce Swanson, principal of Broadview Elementary.  How to get As in the R’s. ?
