Reserve Officer Program

Volunteer Reserve Officer Program

The City of Oak Harbor selects candidates for the position of Reserve Police Officer who have successfully completed the Skagit Valley College Basic Law Enforcement Reserve Academy.  As a condition of employment, the candidate must also successfully complete a 12-month probationary period of service.

Skagit Valley College's Basic Law Enforcement Reserve Academy is certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.  This 320-hour program meets Wednesday nights and all day Saturdays, providing cutting-edge training delivered by experienced police professionals.  The curriculum includes emergency response driving, defensive tactics, fireams training, tactical communications, and more.
