James (Jim) M. Campbell

Council Member Jim Campbell was born in Indiana and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1953.  After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in December of 1974.  He went to work for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, California in July of 1977.  Over the next 24 years, Jim worked as Publications Engineer, Lead Engineer, and Project Manager in Sunnyvale, Liaison Representative/Marketing Representative in Washington, D.C., and finally as Senior Manager serving as Liaison to the Royal Navy Trident Missile Program in Helensburgh, Scotland.  He retired from Lockheed in December of 2000.  Council Member Campbell and his wife Beth have been married 31 years.  They have five children, living in Spokane and the San Francisco Bay Area.  


Council Member Campbell is serving his fourth term. 

In his first term Council Member Campbell served on a variety of Committees:  Boys and Girls Club, Senior Citizen's Advisory Board, Parks Committee and Fire Department Strategic Plan Committee.  He also was on the Board of Directors of Island County United Way,and a member of Oak Harbor Navy League. 


Today, Council Member Campbell is a Member of the NW Clean Air Agency, and is on the Island County Tourism Board.  

Council Member Campbell’s vision for Oak Harbor is that we continue to work to make Oak Harbor the best place in Washington to live.  He will work to keep the infrastructure of the City always in good working order, maintain a strong Police and Fire Department, and seek new ways to make Oak Harbor an example of a well-run city. He will strive to provide sound, honest and intelligent leadership.


Council Member Campbell wants very much to have a continuing dialog with the citizens of Oak Harbor and encourages anyone to contact him any time there is something about Oak Harbor they want to discuss.  He looks forward to those conversations.
