Chief Rick Wallace
On June 16, 2008, the Oak Harbor City Council confirmed the appointment of Rick Wallace as Oak Harbor's Chief of Police.
Chief Wallace began his employement with the Oak Harbor Police Department in January of 1977 as a Jailer-Dispatcher. He quickly moved to a Patrol Officer position and, in 1979, was assigned as a Detective.
In 1982, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and assigned as a shift supervisor in the Patrol Division. Then, in 1983, Chief Wallace was transferred to Detective Sergeant, supervising the Investigations and Jail Divisions.
In 1990, Wallace was assigned as the Administrative Sergeant, and in 1995, was promoted to Captain, which also holds the Civil Service-designated responsibility of Assistant Police Chief.
Chief Wallace has an Associates in Law Enforcement Degree and has attended both the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission’s Northwest Law Enforcement Command College, in addition to hundreds of hours of advanced law enforcement supervisory and administrative training
Chief Wallace says, “I have spent over thirty years at the Oak Harbor Police Department, committed to a job and a community that I love and where I still look forward to coming to work every morning.”
